Uula Wood Oil is a traditional treatment oil for exterior wood surfaces made with cold pressed and boiled linseed oil. It is designed for new and old untreated wood as well as surfaces treated with products that do not form a membrane or hard coating that might prevent the absorption of the oil.
Intended use: Log walls and weather boarding, terraces, decking, jetties, wooden stairs and banisters, wooden furniture and boats. It can also be used on impregnated wood. The number of coats changes the gloss level of the coating.
Colors: Uula Wood Oil is available clear as well as tinted to the translucent colours on the Uula Traditional Colour Chart. When choosing colours please take into account the colour of the surface to be treated. The roughness of the surface, the variety of wood and previous treatments affect the final colour. The final colour is achieved when the surface has dried fully. We recommend making a colour sample on a separate but similar piece of wood before commencing the work.
Coverage: Smooth planed surface 10 m2/l, rough sawn surface 6 m2/l.
Pealekandmisviis: Lacquer brush, levelling paint brush, ordinary paint brush or high-pressure paint sprayer
Application conditions: The surface to be treated has to be dry, (the humidity level of the wood less than 15 %, the relative air humidity below 80 %) and the air temperature a minimum of +10°c. Do not use the product in the rain or in direct sunlight, or on surfaces heated by the sun.
Drying time: Thin coats: Tack-free in approx. 8 hours, final drying depends on the number of treatments. Let the previous coat dry at least 24 hours before the second layer is applied. Can be painted over approx. 24 hours
Density: approx. 0,85 kg/l.
Thinner:Uula Oil Paint Thinner 1166 or pine turpentine
Cleaning of equipment: Clean the equipment with Uula Universal Thinner or petroleum spirit and rinse with soap and water.
Storage and disposal: Keep in a cool and dry place. Does not freeze.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation: Brush off dust. Wash dirty surfaces with Uula Washing Agent and mouldy ones with Uula Mould Cleaning Agent. Remove peeling and loose old wood preservative with a wire brush and scraper. Treat the surface with Uula Anti-Mould Agent and let dry thoroughly. Remember to sand new planed surfaces rough to ensure adhesion. Wash mouldy surfaces with Uula Mould Wash.
Finishing: Apply 2 coats of Oil of Uula. Let the surface dry in between treatments. Maintenance treatment onpreviously treated surfaces must be done using the original or a slightly darker shade. Let the previous coat dry at least 24 hours before the second layer is applied.
NOTES
Always stir well before and during use. Reserve enough paint for a large surface to avoid potential colour variations in different batches. The colour and texture (planed or sawn timber etc.) of the surface to be treated must be taken into consideration when choosing a translucent paint shade. A small test is recommended before the actual treatment.
Caution: Linseed oil on cleaning rags etc. may catch fire by itself. Oily rags and cloths etc. should be burned or rinsed in water before putting into refuse bins
Waste Disposal: Dry and empty containers can be taken to a refuse dump. Liquid waste must be taken to a municipal hazardous waste collection point. Liquid waste must be taken to a municipal hazardous waste collection point.
