Uula Door & Window Paint

Uula Door & Window Paint is a traditional door and window paint made of boiled linseed oil and natural resins and colour pigments. Contains aromatic-free hydrocarbon solvent.

For different interior wood and wood fibre board surfaces and exteriors under cover, e.g. doors, plinths, frames, window frames, furniture etc. and previously painted metal surfaces, e.g. steel covered fireplaces.
Not for uncovered exterior use.

Technical qualities:
Gloss grade: Semi-glossy.
Density approx. 1.12 kg/L.
VOC emissions max. 300 g/l.
EU VOC -limit value: (cat A/d) 300g/l (2010).
Colours: See Uula Traditional Colour Chart. Linseed Oil Paint is tinted with colour pastes made from genuine colour pigments. Special colours are made on request.
Application & conditions: Brush. The surface must be dry and the moisture content of the wood below 15 %.
The relative air humidity must be below 80 % and the temperature at least +10°C.
Drying time: At 20°C and <80 % relative humidity: Dust-dry in approximately six hours.
A new coat can be applied. after 24 hours at the earliest. Note: Heat and light accelerate drying. (10°C recommended.)
Coverage: 10 – 12 m2/L
Thinner: Uula Universal Thinner.
Cleaning of equipment: Clean the equipment with Uula Universal Thinner or petroleum spirit and rinse with soap and water.
Container sizes: 0.9 L, 2.7 L, 9 L
Storage & disposal: Keep in a cool and dry place. Keep out of the reach of children. Does not freeze. Always stir well before use as the pigment settles during storage. Dry and empty containers can be taken to a refuse dump.
Liquid waste must be taken to a municipal hazardous waste collection point.
Fire classification: Non-flammable.
Caution: Linseed oil on cleaning rags etc. may catch fire by itself. Oily rags and cloths etc. should be burned or rinsed in water before putting into refuse bins.

Painting instructions:

• Preparation
  Remove peeling and flaking old paint with a scraper. Sand a high-gloss, painted or varnished old surface matt and remove dust. Wash dirty surfaces with Uula Paint Washing Agent and mouldy, exterior surfaces with Uula Uula Mould Cleaning Agent. Prime covered exterior surfaces with Uula Anti-Mould Agent and let dry.
  Priming
  Prime with a thin layer of paint, interior surfaces with iNTO Interior Primer and
  exterior ones with Uula Exterior Primer. Fill any holes and cracks when necessary.
  Sand and remove dust.
  Finishing
  Apply 2-3 coats of Door and Window Paint. Thin with Uula Universal Thinner 10-15 % if necessary. Let dry for at least 24 hours before applying a new coat and sand if necessary.
  Further treatment of the surface
  Be really careful with all painted surfaces during the first month. Clean the surface only with soft rags and sponges that do not scratch the surface. Use only neutral washing agents. Rinse the surfaces carefully.

Points to note

• Reserve enough paint for a large surface in order to avoid potential colour variations in different batches.
• The paint must always be stirred well before and during use.
• The paint must be applied thinly and tightly. If the paint coat is too thick it may
  wrinkle when drying. Also heating the paint makes the paint easier to be applied thinly.
• Treat metal surfaces (not including galvanized nails) with anti-rust primer
• It is distinctive of oil paints in light colours to turn yellowish in the dark.
• In case of uncertainty, submit to the manufacturer of the paint or to a competent distributor before starting the painting process.
